Rs6m grant approved for needy Artists
The Management Board of Sindh Endowment Fund has decided to distribute Rs6.870 million among 141 needy artists.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Culture and Tourism Sharmila Faruqui chaired the meeting on Friday.
The board scrutinised the applications received by the culture department from needy and poor artists, writers and poets across Sindh. According to official statistics, total of 250 applications were received for assistance of which 141 were approved.
Sharmila Faruqui appealed to the artists, writers, and poets to submit their prescribed proforma with complete necessary documents and proofs so that their cases could be considered positively, adding the authentication of the cases depended on the provided supporting documents. She stressed that the culture department is the custodian of endowment fund of artists and was bound to maintain its transparency. Among others, Secretary Culture Aftab Memon, Director General Culture Manzoor Kanasro were present at the meeting.
