Haider Ali is Pakistan’s leading truck and bus artist. Haider has exhibited in USA, India and Switzerland and undertaken many commissioned projects nationally and internationally. He is known for his hard work and dedication and has trained several truck art artisans and craftsmen. His impressive portfolio includes more than 100, 000 trucks, furniture, crockery and other items.

Mumtaz Ahmed, is another truck artist well known for his unique color sense and versatility which allows him to adapt and apply his art making to various forms.

Gul Rez is a student at Phool Patti .

Phool Patti is an independent company, working to promote Pakistani Truck Art around the world and in Pakistan. It is committed to the preservation of the unique form of folk art, which has originated in Pakistan only.

Truck Art is an art form that originated in Pakistan. Truck drivers took a lot of time making decorating their trucks and hence became formally known as “Phool Patti”. This art form has its own established culture and is not only used on trucks, but on various objects.

Truck artists have created fusion of western designs and Pakistani folk designs resulting in intriguing imagery. Truck art imagery is also a reflection of an artist’s mindset as well as the region he belongs to. When an artist creates his art on an object, he creates it with the objective of depicting his culture and so it reflects his background, culture and the region he belongs to as well their traditions and customs.

The imagery also incorporates celebrities and more recently famous landmarks like the Statue of Liberty or Eiffel Tower. Trucks sport strong and bold colors so that the truck can stand out. Wherever the truck travels it generates excitement.

Foundation Programme, IVS
The Foundation Programme at IVS is an integrated programme which serves to introduce students to fundamental concepts of Art, Design and Architecture. It is designed to heighten perceptions, build awareness and sensitivity to the socio-cultural environment, and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards constructive and innovative change in fields of Art Design and Architecture.

Activities encourage critical thinking, individual development and personal direction whilst assuring exposure to numerous approaches, media, methods, techniques and processes necessary for artistic growth. This is achieved through studio practice organized around projects that are integrated, sequential and gradually increase in complexity.
