By depicting unassuming but universally recognizable items, which can be found in every household, these artists play with their audience’s sensibilities and memories. This exhibition strives to awaken the nostalgic observer in its audience. These artists highlight corners and aspects of everyday life which are often overlooked and ignored but are remarkably recognisable and familiar.
These four painters are motivated by factors ranging from an active interest in their surroundings to the modern world’s inability to survive without these innocuous objects. Their work is a critical appreciation and an active observation of daily life. They remind their viewers to expand and deepen their visual capabilities. The resulting vividly painted works are detailed and intricate.
