” Ahmed Khan is thought of as Pakistan’s greatest living calligraphic artist. His work comprises overlaid calligraphic designs based on silver foil pressed on canvas, which with a sprinkle of chemicals turns them into vibrant colors. His calligraphic forms are meticulously applied on this base. Many of his themes deal with the Oneness of God and the desire for peace “
” He is a self-taught artist and has been extremely faithful to the strict outlines dictated by the traditional practice of Islamic Calligraphy. It is only through dedication and passion for the art form that has brought the quality of his work up to par with educated and established artists “
” It is perhaps the greatest honor for a artist of Islamic Calligraphy to be given an opportunity to leave his artist mark on the holiest shrine of the Muslim world, Masjid al-Nabawi, Mecca, KSA. Asghar Ali adds this prestigious title of “Calligrapher of the Masjid-e-Nabwi” to his paintings.Asghar Ali is a self-taught artist that has managed to get an international recognition for passion for the art form. He has won numerous prizes and awards that celebrate his profound skill. His color pallet reverberates with passionate colors and his letters are masterfully conjoined to form a successful composition”
” Bin Qulander, a son of Sufi sage, is an eminent artist of the generation emerged. The imaginative world of the painter is influenced greatly by the Sufi poetry and music. Innumerable Sufis, the most important being his father, nurtured his culture. He is steeped in the notions of Sufism from which he draws inspiration “
” Khursheed Alam known as the late Nafees Qalam gave Gohar Qalam the title; a master of calligraphy. His major works include a copy of the Holy Quran placed in the State Mosque known as ‘Faisal Mosque’ in Islamabad and includes 406 styles of calligraphy. His calligraphies adorn some of the most important public buildings in Pakistan and in 2005 he was given a special award by the Japanese foreign minister at the International Calligraphy exhibition held in Tokyo’s Metropolitan University. Gohar Qalam’s work has been collected by both the ‘Ashmolean Museum’ in Oxford and the ‘British Museum’ in London where his work is part of the permanent display”
” It’s Allah special benevolence that I was given the courage to spread Islamic heritage in the world. I use those colors, which represents the uniqueness of Allah’s names. I want to show all the colors of nature in my creativity. I struggle to write the words beautifully so it can be explicit /vivid and can leave lasting impression on people “
” He has emerged as a powerful artist of Islamic calligraphy, landscapes and semi-abstract composition. Bukhari has developed his own technique of using a scalpel like a pen, which makes his calligraphy vibrant and unique “
” Noreen Akhtar, uses paper cutting, embossing and ink to great effect,Creating precise graphic and contemporary calligraphic pieces. Her Inspiration comes directly from Arabic, the language of the Holy Quran and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). An important symbol that is employed in her work is the ‘Nukta’. It is the Dot used in the alphabet. Though it seems small and useless but it plays an important part in the language and I turn, in the artist’s compositions as well “
” Zulfiqar’s canvases are reminder of the organic state of our mother planet. At a glance it submerges the viewer into oceanic depths with-it ultra marine and violets and blues tones. At other times it is a harrowing account of the volcanic eruption with severly bright red and orange tints.Th ecalligraphic that he uses flows freely throughout the space. He is a self taught artist that has managed to somehow alamgate landscape with calligraphy almost seamlessly”
