T2F’s 5th Birthday Mushaerah

Our very first event, on 3rd June 2007, featured a poetry reading by the late Zeeshan Sahil and it turned out to be his last public appearance. We are thrilled to announce that we have decided to celebrate our fifth birthday, and honor Zeeshan’s memory, by hosting a Mushaerah on Saturday, 19th May 2012, from 7:00 pm featuring Pakistan’s leading Urdu poets.
The poets who will share their works at T2F’s 5th Birthday Mushaerah are:

Mashkoor Raza’s colourful solo painting exhibition kicks off

A colourful solo painting exhibition of well-known artist Mashkoor Raza kicked off at the Revivers Galleria on Monday.
Recurrent images of women and horses were seen in Raza’s paintings with use of bright colours and sharp brush strokes.
Punjab Education Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman was the chief guest of the event, and inaugurated the exhibition along with Revivers Galleria owner and curator Sara Anjum.
Around 50 oil paintings of the Karachi-based artist were displayed at the gallery. The painting exhibition titled Journey is Raza’s second solo exhibition in less than five months. His first solo art show was held in January last, titled More >

The poetry of Mirza Ghalib (27 December 1797 – 15 February 1869) has been considered complex, abstract and difficult to comprehend. Even for Ghalib’s contemporaries, his language and imagery presented a challenge.
A modern reader – someone reading Ghalib systematically, perhaps for the first time – may feel justified in thinking that the challenge is even greater today.
