Young Pakistani Author Book Launched in UK

Saria Benazir, a youngster, who has earned a name by writing 600 pages book at the age of just 14, has said the launch of her first publication at Oxford Union is the beginning of her struggle to regain Jinnah’s Pakistan.

“I want to stand up for everyone, who has been wronged, and for the rights of minorities and women, for the people who continue to be neglected and deprived of basic rights. I want a tolerant, just and progressive Pakistan at peace with itself, free from the extremism, poverty, dictatorship and illiteracy,” she told The News telephonically from England after formal launch of her book, “Pakistan’s Warrior Princess’ Benazir Bhutto: from my heart.”

The book was launched at the Oxford Union. The event was marked by speeches by Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Member Parliament George Galloway and British author and historian Victoria Schofield.

Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Sanam Bhutto also attended the function. Saria, who hails from a small village of Abbottabad, Banda Pir Khan, was always a topper in her school, Pakistan International Public School and Girls College, Abbottabad, where she studied till O Levels.

She did her A Levels from the Beaconhouse School System, Margalla Campus, Islamabad, and managed to score an A* in History and A in Law. Presently she is final year student of law at the University of London.

To a question, she said she wrote this book on Benazir Bhutto and her family at the age of 14. It was first published in 2011. It took her another three years to get the book launched because she wanted any of Benazir Bhutto’s children to do it.

Saria said she was glad and felt honoured that not only all the three of them but also Sanam Bhutto attended the function, and a British politician George Galloway, too, responded very kindly to her invitation.
