Calligraphy Paintings Exhibition at Alhamra

Alhamra BuildingThe 7th Annual All Punjab Exhibition of Calligraphy Paintings by the Punjab Council of Arts will open at Alhamra Art Gallery on The Mall on Tuesday (today).

“The exhibition, an annual feature of the council, is being held for the last seven years to commemorate Ramazan,” Fine Arts Deputy Director Naeem Ehsan told Dawn.

He said the exhibition would be like a colourful bouquet featuring different schools of thought in calligraphy. Both traditional and contemporary calligraphy would be on display in the exhibition, he added.

Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz will inaugurate the exhibition.

Prominent and budding calligraphers from several cities of Punjab will participate. At least 120 artworks by 80 artists will be displayed in the art show.

Known artists, such as, Aslam Kamal, Irfan Khan and Arif Khan have expressed their hope that the exhibition will be of great interest for young students of art and other visitors.

A number of students from different art institutions have also been invited by the council.
